Quince & Co Piper is our pretty little southern bird.
We sourced the softest super fine kid mohair we could find from a Texas herd of
angora goats and blended it with super fine Texas merino to make a
lighter-than-air, almost lace weight single-ply yarn. Piper has a pretty halo
and a subtle sheen, thanks to the long, silky fibers of the mohair. Find Piper and the other Quince fibers at www.quinceandco.com.

My Daughter-in-law, Emily, wearing Upstairs Downstairs. I just love this photo of her. |
Upstairs Downstairs: A Cowl in Three Sizes
·
Knit in the round. Garter stitch
bands alternating with a super simple lace design.
·
It is easy and fast. I knit the small
size in a day.
·
It is suitable for any sport weight
yarn, including variegated and handspun.
·
I LOVE the spread sheet style format
which is similar in style to that of Helen Stewart of Curious Handmade. There
are percentages of knitting accomplished so you can keep track of your yardage
as you go.
·
It is suitable for beginner knitters,
even a first lace project, and I know you experienced knitters and spinners
will enjoy it too.
·
There is a small, medium and large
size. You will need Approx 250
(350, 500) yd [229, 320, 457] m sport weight yarn such as: Leading Men Fiber
Arts or Quince & Co Chickadee. I’ll
talk more about it next week.
The Blethering Room
Thanks to everyone
who spoke to us and spent time with us at Stitches Midwest!
Thanks for signing my
guest book!
I also had dinner on
Saturday night with the In a Sknit ladies, Kriste and Sarah, BostonJen of Down
Cellar Studio Podcast, Sara of YarnGeekFibers, the Prairie Girls, Danie and
Susie and their friend Molly, Emily Straw of Knitting Butterflies podcast, and,
of course, Bronwyndp. I realized during the meal that it was August 9,
Elizabeth Zimmermann’s birthday, so we toasted her with craft beers, wine and
water of which she totally would approve. Knitting would not be what it is today without
Elizabeth Zimmermann.
Haste ye back!
