Sarah would like book suggestions for her mother/daughter
Read along this summer. Her daughter is 12.
My suggestions (not on the show) are Johnny Tremain, Across
Five Aprils, Anne Frank: The Diary of A Young Girl (abridged possibly), The
Book Thief, To Kill a Mockingbird, Wonder by RJ Palacio, Anne of Green Gables.
Bronwyn
Finished toe up socks. She isn’t happy with the BO as it
flares out. Any suggestions?

June Challenge: Prison Ministry
I read a letter from Nikki Hudson thanking those who
attended and helped at the Spring Knitting Pipeline Retreat in Washington IL.
Since the work is all volunteer Nikki was able to donate $1,200 to prison
ministry through Crossroads United Methodist Church where the retreat is held.
I remind everyone that it is time for us in the Northern
Hemisphere to wash our woolens and put them away for the summer.

and to celebrate we are hosting a Knitting Pipeline KAL of her designs.
The rules are very open. You may use any project knit from one of Helen’s patterns for this KAL. You may participate with projects already completed or in process before the start of the KAL, in addition to new projects. Please consider knitting the re-released Pebble Beach, but any of her patterns qualifies. The KAL will run from May 5 through July 5.
Helen has generously provided a coupon code for a discount of 30% off of any ONE item for use with any of her patterns from May 5 through May 31. The discount code is KPKAL30
We will have 2 KAL threads on the KP Board, one for general KAL chatter and one for photos of Finished Objects, with no chatter. Please remember to post pictures of your finished objects in both threads, so Pipeliners can compliment projects, and not run afoul of the “no-chatter” considerations in the FO thread. Each FO should have its own project and picture post in the FO thread; this means that multiple entries are allowed per person. Please tag your project PebblebeachKAL, and use social media #pebblebeachKAL. The more the merrier!
There will be several prizes awarded, including this skein of Lace Merino from The Uncommon Thread
and other items to be announced later. The winners will be determined by the Random Number Generator (RNG) method of post numbers in the FO thread. (This is why we can’t have chatter in the FO thread.)
Please join the fun and help us celebrate Helen’s designs.
Have a great week, haste ye back, and hold your knitting
close.

Hi to all:
Bronwyn, I have never been found of the flaring stretchy bind off commonly used in toe up socks. I always thought of it as looking like corrugated cardboard. I just recently found a tutorial on Youtube: "Extra Stretchy, No Flare Bind Off". by Lori Wilson. I have been using it for a couple of months now. It is fabulous! And no more fiddly than the other stretchy bind off.
