Update
Just wanted to let you
know that I finished opening all of the envelopes/packages tonight. We were
still receiving mail a few days after the end of the month so we decided to
wait until after my graduation to tally all of the numbers. I received 357 hats
in total. It was amazing. Thank you so much for helping me with my project and
talking about it on your podcast. And just so you know #128 pearlofthepacific
won the skein of Wollmeise from my mom. I will be donating the hats to Way to
Grow in Minneapolis as my cousin is a social worker there and they work with
society’s most isolated children and their families through a home visit model.
They are thrilled to be receiving the hats and I will post pictures on the
ClickforKiley IG account if anyone wants to follow along. Thanks again, Kiley

Nature Notes
You might remember that we had
stopped filling our platform feeder hoping to distract the bluejays and send
them off to our neighbors feeders. Don’t tell our neighbors, but it worked. We
have only the occasional blue jay and have more variety with Rosebreasted
Grosbeaks, Indigo Bunting and lots of the usual visitors. We did not achieve
the goal of nesting house wrens but we knew it was an outside chance. The blue
jays are hilarious with some of their calls. One call definitely sounds like
someone blowing on a cheap whistle. It’s loud too.
We’ve had more rain and there is
more in the forecast. Peoria is situated on the banks of the Illinois River. It
is a large river and is expected to crest this weekend. We are already several
feet over flood stage and they are sandbagging downtown. We will have flooding
but not to the extent of April 2013 which was record flood here and coincided
with our Knitting Pipeline Spring retreat. That was interesting for sure
although Washington is far enough from the river that we were not affected, at
least by the river although a lot of people had water in their homes.

My Newest Design
Cave Point to be published by Quince & Co during Shawl
Week. Tues June 23, 2015
After release of Cave Point post in Ravelry thread
that you have purchased the pattern.
I’m going to have a fun little drawing for 3 skeins of
Quince & Co Chickadee in your choice of color, purchased by me and sent to
you for your knitting pleasure. After the pattern is released on June 23, you
can purchase the pattern either on the Quince site or on Ravelry. I will start
a thread that day. Post in the thread that you have purchased the pattern or
the e-book. We are on the honor system. I will draw a winner via Random Number
Generator. If you want to purchase a gift pattern for a friend you can do one
of those and post as a separate thread but no double posting (i.e. friend
cannot also post since she did not purchase).
Dates to post are June
23 through Friday June 26. I’ll order and you will receive it in time for
our Cave Point KAL that will start on July 3 through Sept 3.
Quince is sponsoring a Shawl KAL in their group.
Cave Point Knit Along starts July 3, 2015

Paula: Congratulations on your new design and participation in such a worthy event! I just can't wait for June 23rd now and will have this on the needles in no time. Is it still raining at your place? My toes are starting to web! Enough already!
Hi Paula,
I can hardly wait until your Cave Point shawl makes it's debut tomorrow! So exciting and an wonderful honor for you!
Although I can't attend either your Cornerstone or Maine retreats, I'd love to knit up some mittens for you to donate this winter. Where shall I send them?
Since October when I first learned about you I look forward to listening to your new podcast edition as I take my Saturday morning walk. The rest of the week I listen to your past podcasts in order to catch up since I don't want to miss a thing! Each episode is so enjoyable and all that you share about knitting, nature, recipes, books, etc is so appreciated. I especially love when you get together with Charr, Bronwyn and Sarah. You guys have so much fun together and it puts a smile on my face and sometimes I laugh out loud along with you. I wonder what the people who see me as I'm walking might think. Oh, who cares about them!!! They have no idea what fun they are missing.
I'm holding my knitting close,
Esther
Hi Paula,
Your knitted dress is beautiful. Bebe will be well dressed by her grandmother. Oh and you must tell us if you and Bob have a preferences for your new names with Bebe. I'm partial to Grammmie.
Excited to knit your shawl and be part of the Pipeliner community. It is such a warm and loving group.
One comment about wrens. Here in the northeast, the mortality rate from the harsh winter lowered our population. Especially for Carolina wrens. Hope you get a late nester.
Thanks for the episode.
Love,
Martha
